97 AFM 4-Hour Endurance Race Thunderhill
Raceway Park
Team: Ruthless People Racing
Riders: Barrett Brockhage, Dave Colyer, Dennis Presiloski.
This year we weren't as organized as we could have been. At the
end we were one of the few team to actually finish the race. Our racebike was
made up of my FZR400 frame with Dennis's spare motor. We had Jason Butler was our
scorer but had no pit crew or pit board person.
Dennis started, and by lap two he was well established in second
place in our 450 class. After 20 minutes Dennis had pulled a full lap ahead of the
team in third. During the entire race all three of us were turning low
consistent times.
Now the bad stuff starts. The right side foot peg came loose
and turned up side down. The peg was spring loaded, so it collapsed as pressure was
placed on it. This left 1 inch of room on the hinge portion of the peg to use as our
foot rest. Dennis had to pull in do to this dangerous development. We spent 10
min. tightening the attaching bolt and adding safety wire. At this time we were in
last place which was somewhere around 7th. I got on the bike next and the peg lasted
15 min. before it turned upside down again! Because of the wire we felt it was safe
to proceed using the remaining 1 inch of peg. We rode like this for the remainder of
the race.
Aside from running out of oil in the last 1/2 hour
which caused yet another unscheduled pit stop, the rest of the race was uneventful.
We finished 4th. and all agreed that it was well worth the effort. Maybe next
year.... Dennis Presiloski / Dave Colyer / Barrett Brockhage

Stoner Summery:
The AFM 4-Hour Endurance Race is held annually
toward the end of the season. Two to six riders are allowed per team. Formula
Rules are used, and one bike per team is allowed. The classes are 450 and below,
600, 750 and open.
The race was set for September at Thunderhill
Raceway Park. We used my FZR400 with stock motor. My teammates were both from
WSMC and had never been to Thunderhill, in spite of being at a new track both did
exceptional. Our scorer was Renee Wells, and our pit crew was Gary Wells with April
Rice who worked the stopwatch and pit board. Thanks Renee, Gary, and April.
We were running in second until
Martin Lee got on board the Team Fez FZR400 and made a fast pass. We ended up 3rd.
First went to Team Iguana on a TZ250! The race was absolutely one of the most
exciting I had participated in.
